Our Founding
In 2008, Beatrice Schultz and Mark Guthrie had been happily married for over 15 years and enjoyed successful corporate careers. Over the years, they'd heard countless pitches from investment advisors vying for their business. But despite their shared passion for finance, the offers felt impersonal and incomplete.
Rather than chase lofty promises, they chose to self-manage their finances. As their curiosity deepened, they left corporate America in 2008 to study how the investment world really worked — attending seminars and exploring various planning approaches. Still, they found something lacking: a holistic, long-term financial strategy. Without that, how valuable could any single product really be?
During their research, they met a seasoned advisor with a unique system focused on analyzing the full financial picture — income, budget, taxes, insurance, debts, investments — then educating, and only then, planning. It resonated deeply. They subscribed to the software and coaching program for personal use.
Their conviction grew: planning without the big picture is short-sighted. What good is a 10% pre-tax return if a family is paying 12% after-tax interest on a car lease? Why weren’t more advisors asking those kinds of questions?
This inspired Beatrice and Mark to launch a different kind of financial services firm — one focused on the whole household picture. Today, as independent advisors and principals of an independent insurance agency and registered investment advisory firm, Westface Financial has access to leading investment and insurance products, unrestricted by any single provider.
Beatrice and Mark co-led Westface Financial until Mark’s passing in 2020. Today, Beatrice continues their legacy, offering comprehensive financial planning that empowers clients to confidently achieve their goals.
